A few days ago, I stumbled upon a couple of business owners who thought they were optimizing their profile “correctly,” but it was the total opposite.

The Job of Your LinkedIn Profile

You need to first understand what the job of your profile is.

People get there by a few methods:

  1. They see your organic content → then click on your profile.

  2. You send them an outbound DM → they click on your profile.

  3. Word of mouth from someone who knows you → they find your profile.

  4. The algorithm shows you to them → they click on your profile.

Once that person (hopefully ICP) lands on your profile, your profile (aka brand) should now help them understand WHAT you do, WHO you help, and HOW you’ll help.

How Do You Achieve the WHAT, the WHO, and the HOW?

It’s simple, but takes some A/B testing (trial and error).

In your LinkedIn headline:

Explain what you do: “Make LinkedIn™ your #1 revenue channel.”
Explain who you do it for: “For founders & business owners.”
Explain how you do it: “The LinkedIn Growth System.”

Now Convert Your Followers into Customers

Once you’ve drawn people to your profile and explained how you can help them through your brand copy, now convert them to buy your stuff.

The way I teach it is simple:

  1. Use your featured section.

  2. Use your about section.

  3. Use LinkedIn premium buttons.

  4. Use your organic content.

The simpler you make your copy, the better.

Don’t tell your audience to buy your “1:1 Coaching Program,” tell them that you’ll “Help You Lose 90lbs in 90 Days Using the Alex Method.”

Sell them the transformation of what you’re offering.

Nobody wants to buy coaching.

They want to lose weight; therefore, they will buy.
